Many altcoins have come and gone. Some were good but many have or had problems.
Bitbean is the result of wanting to create a real alternative currency designed from the ground up, with transactions in mind.

After being abandoned by the original developer, the community quickly came together to continue development. BitBean is now being developed by a group of dedicated people, with a vested interest in seeing it succeed! A white-paper, road-map, new website, and updated wallet are current projects ongoing with longer term development projects planned.

BitBean is no longer in the hands of a single developer, but now has a Professional Core Development team leading it towards the future! Come visit our community in IRC (Freenode #bitbean) and ask our friendly support team, why Bitbean is destined to be a premier crypto currency, now and in the future!

About Bitbean’s Proof of Work phase:

SHA-256 ASIC mining is energy efficient so it was chosen as the algorithm for the pow period.
After it’s initial distribution of 10,000 blocks to people mining all around the world, BitBean become a pure Proof of Stake bean. PoS was active during PoW so about a third of those 10,000 blocks were Proof of Stake blocks. After PoW ended, their were 606 million Bitbeans.

Proof of Work is a great way to distribute coins to people. It’s better than making an IPO or ICO, where almost always the developers and insiders buy all the coins from themselves. This makes for essentially massively pre-mined coins. BitBean had no pre-mine or IPO!

About BitBean’s innovative Proof of Stake:

BitBean’s Proof of Stake is different from other coins. After 6 hours BitBeans mature and are eligible to stake on the network. Blocks which are found through staking are static blocks similar to PoW. Each PoS block found will provide a reward of 1,000 BitBean.

This is a better form of Proof of Stake than using a percentage method like other PoS coins with interest.
Coins are supposed to be a payment system. BitBean’s PoS encourages people to actually process transactions instead of hoarding. With many other PoS coins, holders generally only process a transaction once in a blue moon. And most of these transactions are only to collect their interest. This is not a good method for making a payment system. BitBean is a leap forward to change that!

Scale-ability:

BitBean is based on a pro-Gavin proposal for a Bitcoin 20MB block size fork.
Why wait to see if Bitcoin will ever change, BitBean started out from the beginning with 20MB blocks!

Other info:

  • The community has chosen BITB as the ticker.
  • Transaction fee is 0.01 BITB (This is slated to change with the next update.)
  • Target block time is 1 minute.
  • Block time to maturity is 110 confirmations.
  • Port: 22460
  • Default RPC port: 22461

An updated wallet is being planned for release by the new development team that will automaticaly add nodes and eliminate the need to create a conf file, but in the mean time we have created a tutorial to help you get your wallet to sync.

I have downloaded the wallet and bought 3 million beans at 0.00000018 BTC so a total investment of 0.54 BTC. So far I have had 20 stake payments in a little over a day, 20000 BITB or the equivalent of 0.004BTC. The price of the coin has risen in the last 24 hours to 0.00000023 BTC and it seems to have some following. It could be one to watch or stake if you don’t mind a bit of risk.

#2

wow already over 600 million in existence. that’s a lot

#3

Bitbeanconf.pdf does not open. It’s just a link to itself on port 8888

#4

I changed the post, this is a copy and paste with some comments

#5

Hence the price of the coin

#6

I found the conf file
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=969676.0

#7

The price as risen in the last hour so for disclosure purposes I have sold 2 million of my 3 million coins and have my original investment back. I still think the coin may see the weekend out at .000000040 BTC as I said a cheap coin with some decent staking. I also forgot to mention it is on the 2 largest exchanges Bittrex and Cryptsy not bad for a new coin.

#8

Hey thanks for sharing @bubbamark!

@jakez mentioned this coin to me the other day too and I totally forgot to check it out. I think I’ll hit trex now and buy some too.

#9

Heh, I had to transfer btc into bittrex to get the beans. Meanwhile I thought I would set up the wallet. Got the original .conf details, so the wallet just wouldn’t connect. Thought I wouldn’t buy if the wallet wasn’t going to stake. Then I came across the new conf details and the wallet fired right up
Went back to bittrex to find the price had gone from 22/23 up to 27/28 :frowning: Got a lot less beans for my btc …
the wallet seems cool though. It tells you when you can expect your stake to pay out in a mouseover on the bottom right status display.

#10

Made another 1000 beans from staking for 12 hours
just under 1.1 million staked.

#11

Added to OP.

#12

I decided to buy some more, but I sent the coins over to my wallet in 3 chunks. I got 3 stakes in 12 hours

#13

Hey guys ive been hearing a lot about bitb. Dont have time to research much anymore. Would it be good to buy some or are there better up and coming coins at the moment?

#14

It is a cheap coin with a lot of coins in the eco system, it seems to have a team behind it after the developer abandoned it. The staking seams OK it it has some good trading levels. The thing that got me more interested was the fact that it was listed both on Cryptsy and Bittrex no easy task for an alt coin. I think it is a good coin for the beginner who wants to try staking. I believe this coin will grow in price overtime but will more than likely stay under 100 satoshi.
There are probably other coins that have better technology such as Dark Coin and Black coin but a lot lower staking rate.
Like all alt coins though unless you really believe it may be the next BTC if you invest be prepared to sell at a profit.

#15

Thx. Ill check it out and some other coins too

#16

Well my beans continue to grow a total of 15 mined blocks in 24 hours and the price has risen to 0.00000030 BTC. I still think it will max out at the 0.00000100 BTC rate but I like this coin for some reason.

#17

Interesting. My wallet has been staking for about 24h now and hasn’t received any rewards yet.

#18

Maybe the beans don’t like you. Mine is working well EDIT, I also split my deposits up so I had varying sizes of staking amounts. I have 2 million bit beans but reading the BTC talk thread people say they are staking with as low as 10,000

#19

Most likely or maybe I need more

#20

Maybe you need to buy some magic beans.
