How to integrate live chat feature into website?

#1

I want to add a live chat feature into my website so that I can respond to questions etc even while I’m out and about.

Keeping in mind that my ability to mess with code is minimal, what’s the quickest easiest way anyone knows to make that happen?

Thanks in advance for any help

Maybe this?

Hadn’t seen that one - I’ve looked through a few, though if it’s fee based I’d rather it was a one off as opposed to a recurring bill.

I saw a couple of examples of simply coded chat services, though I’ve managed to lose them some point over the last week or so.

I wonder how much agro it’d be to use google hangouts…or even if it’s feasible.

I was using this one website customer service chat type dealy at one time and what it would do is when someone chatted on your site it’d pop open a chat box in Google Chat. That way you could answer on the go using the Google app. Wish I could remember the name. I’ll keep looking

This is the one that my company that I work for is using - https://www.purechat.com/

I’m going to sign up to that one now…if it’s easy enough to set up then I’ll trial it for a month or two

I like it…that’s quick clean and simple.

Think I may have to buy it…year at a time is a pain, but I can see the sense in it from their POV

It’s not bad really. You get chat transcripts after the closing of the chat, you can see where your customers are in the world, brand the chat with your company logo and a few more things. Very nice solution really. I was trying to find you a free way but if you don’t mind paying then it’s a good one

If you happen to remember a nice free method before I do upgrade then I’ll gladly try it, but it the absence of a better free alternative, this is pretty sweet

Lmfao, you’re a bloody star, I’m telling ya…right, 5 minutes reading up on this one, quick smoke, try an install and see what happens

Okay, about to sign up with this mylivechat one, quickly checked the purechat one on my mobile and encountered an issue, the chat box is hidden out of site and almost totally off screen at the bottom right…if I hadn’t have known it was there I’d have never have noticed it.

I used to use CraftySyntax Not sure how much further it’s been developed since I last used it but it was stable enough and seemed to work in most browsers/configurations. It was also free.

I’ve added the mylivechat one and am just going through all the optionsatm.

I’d have been pissed if I’d found that purechat one, payed for it, then found mylivechat.

Luckily members of the GH community have again stepped up and saved the day

edit Erm, @cyberdexter have you guys started lowering the standards, or is the above another one the filter has somehow not had to contend with before?

Okay, I have to say, I LOVE this, it’s exactly what I was looking for.

@lothendriel , if you haven’t already, grab yourself a beer, you deserve one, thank you so much

A quick heads up reg mylivechat, checked my emails this morning, saw the one from them, opened it up, read it and noticed right there, for the whole ■■■■■■■ world to see, was my password.

I’ve written to them to express my displeasure.
