So yeah…bloody open cart…
Okay my brainy friends, I need to ask for some advice.
being a non dev type, fiddling with code is tricky for me at the best of times. I sure as hell couldn’t write the code I’m messing with, but here’s what I’m trying to achieve:
In the basic installation many fields are mandatory, including address and phone number. I’ve dug through the php files, removed the fields in both the standard and the checkout registration forms, then dug through the controllers and removed the bits that check and throw up errors if you fail to provide the info.
So far, so good. It actually worked. So proud. until…
I went to remove the mandatory telephone number bit from the “account information” page. Dug through the PHP, removed the field. Found the controller, removed the bit that checks it and makes sure it’s there. Should be cool, right?
I now log in, go to the account information page, the field is gone (awesome, I did good!) but I try and update the info and the damn thing wont save any changes. It also lacks a direct “update password” field, which seems a bit odd, but I don’t care too much about that at the moment.
So yeah, if anyone has a copy of open cart handy, if you can tell m what I’m missing, possibly?
The file in question is /public_html/catalog/view/theme/MYTHEME/template/account/edit.tpl
Thanks for any hints
