Yep - I get that and thanks guys for the pointers. The guy with the Block Erupter 49 port on eBay is a j@ck@ss, so that's a no go. There's another seller with a half-full one (the USB miners are 2GH YellowJackets which I have no interest in though and wouldn't be willing to pay for those - he doesn't want to break the rig up to sell the hub). Eyeboot.com has them for $145 + $28 shipping and it could take ages to get here form Shenzen... BUT I did find a $150 one on Amazon that is fulfilled through Amazon with prime free shipping so I'll likely go that route.
Why not daisy-chained hubs? Well, the USB sticks I'm playing with these days use the BM1384 chips from the S5 at a 0.3W/GH efficiency (best out there with the exception of the S7 chips and, maybe SFARDS) and they clock at 8GH each with standard watts and volts from a USB2.0 port. BUT, they are easily overclocked to 20GH each if you can push enough power to them - something these 49 port hubs allow you to do because you can use an ATX PSU to power the hub... so, there's that. Why not just buy a cheap S5 and be done with it - cheaper for sure? Well there's that of course, but the heat and the sound are something after all this time mining that I just can't deal with anymore. I'm going to mine small, quiet and cool - and with less energy impact. Probably mine smaller coins like DGB and DGC so I can see blocks fly every once in a while too.
I appreciate the help guys - and thanks for that.
EDIT: Oh, and well of course, it's cool to look at with all the blinky lights and stuff too.
